As we roll into the new year, it’s time to get organized and start scheduling your dental appointments. Regular dental appointments are a key part to maintaining good oral health. You might need a reminder as to why good oral health is important. For starters, did you know that poor oral health can lead to toothaches, cavities and unsightly stains? Poor oral health can also increase your risk of diabetes and heart disease. Yikes!

Here’s a quick list of reminders:

  • Let us know if you’ve had any address, employment or insurance changes prior to your appointment.
  • Allow one hour for a regular hygiene and exam appointment.
  • Come prepared with a list of questions or concerns.
  • Call to give us a heads up if there is anything else going on that may require more of the doctor’s time so we can modify the schedule.
  • Bring your night guard for adjustments and cleaning.
  • Don’t forget to brush and floss before you come in.
  • Program reminders into your phone/calendar for when you are due for next appointments.

As always, be sure to brush and floss daily. Have you heard the saying “only floss the teeth you want to keep”? Well, not only is it one of the best habits to get into for the health of your teeth and gums but it will make for a much more enjoyable hygiene appointment. Please… don’t just floss the week before your appointment – be consistent! Time and again, we hear testimonials from patients who can’t believe how different the cleaning is when regular flossing practices are in place.

If you have a conflict, please give us at least 48 business-hours notice to avoid a late-cancellation fee.

For those of you who are really on top of your oral health, what would you add to this list?
