Dr. Chelsea Stangl

I decided I was going to be a dentist when I was 7 years old! I’m not sure exactly why but I started orthodontics in first grade and my orthodontist was awesome. Also, my aunt was the office manager at my general dentist’s office so I loved going in there because I always got an extra toy out of the treasure chest!

As I got a little older, I realized it wasn’t all rainbow rubber-bands and treasure chests that made the dentists in my life so great, it was that they were passionate about helping people. After attending the University of Southern California for college I went east to Boston University School of Dental Medicine where I graduated Cum Laude (and met my husband). Once I was in dental school it became clear being a general dentist was what I was meant to do. Connecting with patients is the best part of my job. I’m fortunate that helping a phobic patient work through their fears or giving someone the smile they have dreamed of or simply getting someone out of pain is my job! That does not get old.

Continuing education is extremely important to all of us at WD. We spend hundreds of hours each year individually or as a team learning as much as we can to best serve our patients. Dental school does a decent job of giving you the basics but continuing education is where you learn the treatments and technology that you can become passionate about. We have the leading technology and have spent numerous hours learning how best to use it to our patient’s advantage. I have suffered from TMJ related pain, sensitivity, and headaches for years. That is the reason I am dedicated to learning as much about relieving patient’s TMJ pain in the most simple and effective way, which is why we have pursued certification in Disclusion Time Reduction (DTR) and are currently the only certified doctors in the state of Colorado.

My husband, Dave, and I live in the Highlands with our two boys, Calvin and Curtis and our dog Burrito. We love hanging around our neighborhood as well as going to the mountains any chance we get.

I’ve been at Wynkoop Dental since 2012 and I couldn’t be more excited to wake up in the morning and go to work.  My team loves our patients as much as I do and we make being at the dental office a fun experience…can you imagine?!!

I am happiest when I am learning and growing.  I like to stay on top of what’s new and great to treat patients.  In particular I’m very interested in the bite and how it relates to your overall health.  This includes TMD treatment as well as straightening teeth with Invisalign to create better oral health.  I believe in prevention and teaching people about how to avoid dental problems before they start.  I’m involved in numerous study clubs and take a lot of time to attend continuing education each year.  Another thing I enjoy about being a dentist is building relationships with my patients and empowering them to love their teeth as much as I do!

I grew up on the other side of the mountain in Grand Junction.  I headed west to UC San Diego for Undergrad and then up to University of the Pacific for Dental School in San Francisco.  I couldn’t stay away from Colorado forever, this great state is where my heart belongs. I enjoy being outdoors and traveling.  I live in the Highland neighborhood and love the community feel it has while still being close to bigger city conveniences like delicious restaurants.  My husband Daniel and I have two girls and are expecting baby #3 in August.

I joined Wynkoop Dental in 2016, and couldn’t be happier!  Our team is so excited to learn and grow as dentistry evolves, and the enthusiasm and teamwork in our office is incredible. I love serving our patients in the best way I can, and they all make it not only possible, but fun! How could I not love my job?

Both of my parents are in the dental field, so it probably isn’t terribly surprising that I also got drawn in.  But although I love them dearly, it was my orthodontist in the 4th grade that really got me excited.  The office was always so much fun, I literally couldn’t wait for my next appointment!  As I got older and really started to understand and value what an impact they made on my life, I realized they were loving their jobs because they got to make people happy and boost their confidence all while helping them get healthy.  That got me hooked!

I really love being a dentist!  I love connecting with my patients and helping them feel empowered and excited about their oral health.  The dental field is constantly changing, and I love learning and growing as a provider so I can offer the best and most up to date treatments for my patients.

Originally from Newport Beach, CA I traveled north for an Integrative Biology degree at UC Berkeley and then pursued my dental education at University of the Pacific Dental School in San Francisco.  Following dental school, I came to Colorado to complete my General Practice Residency at Denver Health Medical Center.  While I originally planned for a year in the mountains before heading back to California, I fell in love with this outdoor paradise and couldn’t leave!  My husband and I live in Westminster, and jump on any excuse to get outdoors.  When not at work, you can find us out listening to some live music, snowboarding, boating, fishing, camping, and hiking with our three crazy dogs!
